Chicago, IL October 31, 2012

Special Learning, Inc., the leading global provider of mobile technology applications and educational resources for the autism community, announced today that it is seeking guest bloggers to partner with to bring the most relevant information to its active website blog. The blog currently features expert insight, guidance, tips and treatment options from professional care providers who work with individuals affected by autism. New bloggers will help to create a robust repository of articles pertinent to parents, caregivers, providers and educators who navigate the journey of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) each day.

Special Learning’s blog is designed to provide support and information for those in touch with individuals with ASD. The blog serves as a valuable tool in Special Learning’s mission to inform, educate and empower those around the world who are helping individuals with ASD to move up the skills spectrum intuitively, successfully and affordably. The blog is thought provoking and engages the global autism community with insightful discussion on relevant matters pertaining to topics surrounding autism. Bloggers in the autism community who seek additional audience members are encouraged to join Special Learning’s blog network to share their message and voice their opinions, concerns and insight about ASD.

“We are calling on bloggers serving the autism space to help us carry out our mission to create solutions that help individuals with ASD live abundant and fulfilling lives, and to educate even more individuals about the technology solutions currently available to them,” said Karen Chung, founder and president of Special Learning. “Through this new initiative we’re hoping to collaborate with other leaders in the autism community, provide them with a new channel to deliver their message, and bring together the autism community through sharing and learning.”

Special Learning designs evidence-based products and services using the methods of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). The company provides the global autism community with a comprehensive range of training and educational products, web-based and downloadable tools, and professional services for parents, teachers and providers so that they can deliver the best possible outcomes to individuals with autism.

Individuals interested in providing guest blog posts for Special Learning’s blog should be a member of the autism community or touched by the condition in some way. Topics can include a variety of subjects related to autism spectrum disorder, its treatment, parenting children through autism, tips and techniques for navigating a day in the life of an individual with autism, and any other stories about how autism has touched their lives. Additionally, Special Learning seeks stories about how individuals have benefited from the use of the company’s products.

Guest bloggers need not have written previously, though some experience and the ability to draw upon a pre-existing channel of readers may be helpful; they simply should have the desire to contribute to the overall conversation about autism and be able to tell a compelling story.

Guest blog contributors are also eligible to receive a free download from Special Learning and can choose from a variety of products including eBooks, social stories and visual schedules, among others.

Those interested in contributing posts as a guest blogger should send an email to the communications department at jroumeliote(at)special-learning(dot)com.

Journey to Independence

Community-based program designed to support families on waitlist

Being an RBT for me was extremely fun because where were you going to find a place where you can be completely silly without having to worry what people thought about you? This was the only job that made me feel like I could make a dramatic difference while being myself.

I also liked to be surrounded by people that had the same goals of wanting to help kids and the teamwork made the job much easier and more enjoyable.

Change and progress was the ultimate goal for our kiddos. The early intervention program was seriously only a miracle because I saw changes in the kiddos that from day one, you wouldn’t even recognize who they were.

Changes from being able to utter 3-4 words where they can only make a syllable from when they started, the behavior decreases in which kiddo that used to engage in 30-40 0 self-harm to only half, learning how to wait during games, table work where they use to swipe and drop to the floor if they had to.

My favorite was when the parents would tell us what amazing progress they were making at home. I used to tear up and felt for these parents so much because it was already difficult for them and now, they can trust and rely on ABA and the therapists knowing their goal was ours.
