Does this CE count toward my renewal?
This is the question we are asked most often and the one the industry answers worst. Four credentialing bodies come up, our standing with each is different, and two of those differences change what you should buy. Here is each one in plain language, including the places where the answer is no.
The short version
BACB: Special Learning is an Authorized Continuing Education (ACE) Provider, number OP-14-2437. When one of our courses says it carries BACB CE, that is the credit it carries and it is the credit you can use toward BCBA and BCaBA recertification.
QABA: Special Learning is listed as a CE provider by the QABA Credentialing Board. That is a listing, and a listing is not a sufficiency claim. The same provider record marks us a provider of continuing education units and not a coursework provider — so a course can be about the body of knowledge behind a QABA credential without being coursework the board has reviewed for that credential. That review is theirs to do and theirs to state — not ours to assert, in either direction. Whether any of our libraries has a bearing on a QASP-S, QBA or ABAT renewal is the board's determination. If that is why you are buying, ask them first.
The American Psychological Association. People ask about this one too, so here it is plainly. Our authorisation there lapsed on 22 April 2024 and has not been reinstated. If your renewal runs through that body, this is not the place to get what you need. Any older page or file of ours that suggests otherwise is out of date — tell us and we will fix it.
Why the QABA answer has two halves
A provider listing and a coursework approval are two different records, and they are commonly reported as one. Being listed means the board recognises us as a provider of continuing education units. It does not mean a specific course has been reviewed and accepted as counting toward a specific credential's renewal. Those are separate determinations, and only the board makes the second one.
We are drawing that line explicitly because the incentive runs the other way. "Listed with the board" is the kind of phrase that sells a library, and leaving it ambiguous would sell more of them. The reason not to is simple: you would find out at renewal, which is the worst possible moment and the one place we cannot fix it for you.
What to do
Before you buy any continuing education for a renewal deadline — ours or anyone's — ask the certifying body two questions, in writing: is this provider recognised, and does this specific course count toward my renewal requirement. A yes to the first is not a yes to the second. Keep the answer; renewal reviews ask for it, not for the seller's word.
What we will not tell you
We will not attach another body's eligibility wording to a course, print another body's unit numbers on a certificate, or put another body's logo on one. Our certificates carry BACB credit and nothing else, because that is the only credit we are authorised to issue. If a page of ours ever shows you a different body's numbers on a certificate, that is an error and we want to hear about it.

Scope and dates: BACB ACE Provider OP-14-2437. The QABA provider listing was read directly at the board's own provider page on three separate dates and was unchanged on all three, with a deliberately invalid provider address checked in the same session to confirm the page can return "not found" — so a positive result means something. That record carries no expiry date, so it is true as of the day it is read and we re-read it on a schedule. Full read dates, instrument and controls are recorded on our internal row for this page.
