ABA Consulting Services announces its inaugural two-day “Touch Technology Applications for Children With Special Needs Conference & Expo” to take place on September 17 & 18, 2012 at the Renaissance St. Louis Airport Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) March 29, 2012

ABA Consulting Services is pleased to announce its inaugural, two-day “Touch Technology Applications for Children With Special Needs Conference & Expo.” Touch technology is allowing children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other disabilities to engage and excel in academic work; improve social interactions; expand personal interests; and better express their personality, wants and needs. However, the recent proliferation of mobile applications have left parents, professionals and educators wondering which apps are appropriate to meet the unique needs of their individual learners.

Supported by Special Learning, this conference brings together leading practitioners and researchers to present the latest practical applications in touch-screen tablet technology in the world of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. App developers will share and demonstrate the latest touch technology applications for use in therapy, school, home and social settings through live demonstrations and videos. Through theme-specific breakout sessions, local and national therapists will lead practical hands-on sessions demonstrating the use of apps for communication, speech, language, motor skills, social skills, academic skills, behavioral skills, and more. Attendees will be able to customize their conference experience through two days of break-out sessions.

The Touch Technology exhibition is the place to test the latest applications in touch technology for children with special needs and see live demos of various applications running on touch-screen tablets. App creators will discuss the ins and outs, and how children can benefit from the apps. The expo provides a valuable opportunity to speak with application developers, provide feedback on existing apps and children’s needs, and give input into new application development. See apps in operation before purchasing them.

“Through my own clients and practice, I have seen the profound difference that touch technology has made in the lives of children with autism. Touch tablets are wonderful tools that can enhance not only communication, but also learning and leisure for many children with a variety of special needs. I hope that many parents and professionals can benefit from our conference by learning about the endless possibilities.” – Debra Bryant, BCaBA and founder of Touch Technology Conference

Journey to Independence

Community-based program designed to support families on waitlist

Being an RBT for me was extremely fun because where were you going to find a place where you can be completely silly without having to worry what people thought about you? This was the only job that made me feel like I could make a dramatic difference while being myself.

I also liked to be surrounded by people that had the same goals of wanting to help kids and the teamwork made the job much easier and more enjoyable.

Change and progress was the ultimate goal for our kiddos. The early intervention program was seriously only a miracle because I saw changes in the kiddos that from day one, you wouldn’t even recognize who they were.

Changes from being able to utter 3-4 words where they can only make a syllable from when they started, the behavior decreases in which kiddo that used to engage in 30-40 0 self-harm to only half, learning how to wait during games, table work where they use to swipe and drop to the floor if they had to.

My favorite was when the parents would tell us what amazing progress they were making at home. I used to tear up and felt for these parents so much because it was already difficult for them and now, they can trust and rely on ABA and the therapists knowing their goal was ours.
