Special program and certified clinicians in the field of Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis will provide treatment to families by who are currently waiting to access direct services.

CHICAGO, Illinois (PRWEB) November 19, 2013
Special Learning Inc., the leading global provider of mobile technology applications and educational resources for the special needs community, announced today a new program that offers treatment services to the Autism and special needs community. The SL ABA GAP Program is designed to provide immediate access to evidence-based treatment provided by skilled practitioners in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to families with newly diagnosed children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Led by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), the program offers convenient and comprehensive services to families from the onset of diagnosis while they are waiting to access direct treatment.
“With rise in prevalence of individuals diagnosed with ASD, more and more families are being wait-listed to receive early intervention,” said Karen Chung, Founder and Chief Executive Officer. “We are thrilled to be able to provide immediate services to these families who so desperately want to start their child on the treatment path.”
The unique program utilizes easily accessible video conferencing tools to allow Special Learning behavior therapists and BCBAs to offer convenient and affordable access to ABA treatment. Families will have the opportunity to consult with a BCBA, as well as receive an initial skills assessment for their child and training to start a home program while they wait for direct treatment placement. The program also provides a cost-effective means for parents and caregivers to receive adequate training in the implementation in ABA so they can provide effective treatment to their children.
The SL ABA GAP Program is part of the SL Virtual Consultation Assessment and Treatment Program recently launched by Special Learning. The addition of its newest program solidifies Special Learning’s mission to provide affordable and accessible treatment to all individuals with Autism.
Parents who are interested in enrolling in the SL ABA GAP program, or the SL V-CAT Program, can schedule a complimentary 30-minute consultation with a member of the Special Learning clinical team by writing to Roumeliotis(at)special-learning(dot)com.

Journey to Independence

Community-based program designed to support families on waitlist

Being an RBT for me was extremely fun because where were you going to find a place where you can be completely silly without having to worry what people thought about you? This was the only job that made me feel like I could make a dramatic difference while being myself.

I also liked to be surrounded by people that had the same goals of wanting to help kids and the teamwork made the job much easier and more enjoyable.

Change and progress was the ultimate goal for our kiddos. The early intervention program was seriously only a miracle because I saw changes in the kiddos that from day one, you wouldn’t even recognize who they were.

Changes from being able to utter 3-4 words where they can only make a syllable from when they started, the behavior decreases in which kiddo that used to engage in 30-40 0 self-harm to only half, learning how to wait during games, table work where they use to swipe and drop to the floor if they had to.

My favorite was when the parents would tell us what amazing progress they were making at home. I used to tear up and felt for these parents so much because it was already difficult for them and now, they can trust and rely on ABA and the therapists knowing their goal was ours.
