California ABA staff requirements, with sources
This page is for people who run an ABA team in California. It lists the training, supervision and credential rules for behavior technicians and analysts that we found at a state source. Each rule shows the law or policy it comes from and the date we last checked California. Where we couldn't confirm a rule, we say so instead of guessing.
This version covers U.S. states. If you're outside the U.S., email contact@special-learning.com with your country and we'll tell you when yours is ready.

What the state requires
A Behavior Management Technician (Service Code 616) must have a High School Diploma or equivalent, complete 30 hours of competency-based training designed by a certified behavior analyst, and have six months' experience working with persons with developmental disabilities — OR hold an associate's degree in a qualifying human/social/educational-services field (or related behavior-management degree/certification) with no state training-hours requirement, plus six months' experience. This is one of two qualification routes, not a universal floor, and it applies to the DDS/Regional Center (Title 17 vendorization, Service Code 616) funding stream only, not the Medi-Cal BHT track.
This page is general information, not legal advice. Rules change, so confirm with the state before you act on it.
