District of Columbia ABA staff requirements, with sources

This page is for people who run an ABA team in District of Columbia. It lists the training, supervision and credential rules for behavior technicians and analysts that we found at a state source. Each rule shows the law or policy it comes from and the date we last checked District of Columbia. Where we couldn't confirm a rule, we say so instead of guessing.

This version covers U.S. states. If you're outside the U.S., email contact@special-learning.com with your country and we'll tell you when yours is ready.

What the state requires

  • D.C. Code requires that within one year of July 19, 2024, the Mayor issue rules for the licensure and scope of practice of behavior analysis, including at minimum a code of ethics, criteria for the educational and clinical training of licensed behavior analysts, and criteria for a professional competency examination. That statutory deadline (2025-07-19) has passed and, as of this reading (thirteen months later), remains unfulfilled.
