Vermont ABA staff requirements, with sources

This page is for people who run an ABA team in Vermont. It lists the training, supervision and credential rules for behavior technicians and analysts that we found at a state source. Each rule shows the law or policy it comes from and the date we last checked Vermont. Where we couldn't confirm a rule, we say so instead of guessing.

This version covers U.S. states. If you're outside the U.S., email contact@special-learning.com with your country and we'll tell you when yours is ready.

What the state requires

  • Before providing ABA services, BTs must document completion of at least 40 hours of training in ABA implementation, including a minimum of 3 hours of ASD-specific training and a minimum of 3 hours of ethics/professional-conduct training.

  • BTs must also document, prior to providing services: current First Aid certification (renewed at least every 3 years), Universal Precautions training, current CPR certification (renewed annually), Confidentiality/HIPAA compliance training, and AHS Mandated Reporter training.

  • Vermont does not require the RBT credential for BTs; it requires the 40-hour ABA-implementation training instead.
