Washington ABA staff requirements, with sources

This page is for people who run an ABA team in Washington. It lists the training, supervision and credential rules for behavior technicians and analysts that we found at a state source. Each rule shows the law or policy it comes from and the date we last checked Washington. Where we couldn't confirm a rule, we say so instead of guessing.

This version covers U.S. states. If you're outside the U.S., email contact@special-learning.com with your country and we'll tell you when yours is ready.

What the state requires

  • LBAs must meet continuing education (CE) every two years either by maintaining certification from a professional credentialing entity requiring CE, or by completing a minimum of 32 hours of CE: at least 20 hours on behavior-analytic skill development/current practices, at least 4 hours on professional ethics and boundaries, and no more than 8 hours of professional-development/business-practice content.

  • Separately, an LBA must complete 2 hours of health-equity CE every four years -- a state-specific requirement not satisfiable by maintaining BACB certification alone.
