If you are arranging training for a new technician, use this simple calculation to estimate a study pace, then confirm the full training and assessment requirements with the BACB and your training provider.
Estimate a study pace
Choose a whole number between 5 and 180. These are study days, not the total elapsed calendar days. The BACB’s 180-day limit applies to the overall training window. This estimate divides 40 hours evenly and rounds up to whole minutes; real schedules and section minimums can differ. Nothing entered here is saved or submitted.
Check the course and its timing
The BACB says the 2026 RBT 40-hour training must cover its curriculum, be completed in at least 5 days and no more than 180 days, and meet its other trainer and content requirements. This calculator checks only arithmetic; it does not approve a course, schedule or certification application. Verify the requirements and any subsequent assessment with the BACB.
