Special Learning, Inc is hosting the 2nd installment in the Ethics of Organizations (OBM) Series entitled Best Practices of Performance Management on Feb. 20, 2019 at 11 am Central with world renown experts in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Organizational Behavior Management (OBM). During this historical event we are providing insights and the how- tos in creating ethically sound businesses which attain both client outcomes and profit goals.

Special Learning, Inc., the leading global provider of comprehensive digital autism solutions, today holds an epic live-event which combines the great minds of ethicist,  Dr. Jon Bailey, BCBA-D, father of Performance Management and Organizational Behavior Management (OBM), Dr. Aubrey Daniels, and OBM Safety Consultant Dr. Thomas Cunningham on one-stage to shed light on Best Practices in Performance Management in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

The Disconnect in the Field of ABA at the Business Level

In most recent years, Private Equity (PE) firms have been entering into the therapeutic space of ABA.  Some PE firms have reportedly entered and exited with as high as 10x to 15x profit margin. The concern is not the influx in monies in the ABA space, but how the quality outcome for clients is placed as a secondary mission with the objectives and motivations of PE-backed ABA agencies focus on increased revenues being first. Board Certified Behavior Analysts’ (BCBA) main objective is to support the learning of clients and increase their level of independence. This objective is sometimes overpowered by the end goal of PE-backed agencies. As PE firms entered the ABA domain, many independent ABA agencies have had difficulty in matching the offerings that the PE-backed agencies can offer. In turn, a few Board Certified Behavior Analyst owned companies have begun to go under and and had to shut their doors which leads to clients not receiving the life-altering and medically necessitated  ABA therapy.

 The Solution to the Disconnect

Applied Behavior Analysis is a science of human behavior which utilizes decades of research and evidenced-based practices to assist it’s clients in reaching optimal levels of independence. In the mid 1970’s, the science of ABA was expanded to use these same technologies on a grander scale for organizations in which the field of Organizational Behavior Management (OBM) was born. OBM applications in the business sector include (but not limited too): analysis of the system, management, increasing employee and managerial performance, trainings and safety.

Special Learning, Inc. started focusing its efforts in 2017-2018 to understand the need to inform, educate and empower the ABA field and businesses to implement Best Practices in OBM and ethical decision-making to continue to thrive and help all their clients in desperate need of ABA services.  Special Learning Inc proudly announces, for the first time ever, renowned experts Dr. Jon Bailey, BCBA-D, Dr. Aubrey Daniels, and Dr. Thomas Cunningham, will deliver their thought leadership to the global masses on February 20, 2019 at 11am Central on one platform. In this event, we will explore the changes in the field and how to utilize applicable OBM solutions to address Best Practices in Performance Management.

Ethics of Organizations (OBM): Best Practices in Performance Management

During this historical event, ethicist Dr. Jon Bailey, BCBA-D, will examine the ethical implications of organizations with poorly ran Performance Management protocols and provide insights by which to maximize ethical behavior of the organization and its employees to continue to meet optimal outcomes for the clients. OBM Safety Consultant, Dr. Thomas Cunningham will address the safety application of OBM practices for agency employees and clients and how to decrease workplace accidents and increase productivity through environmental modifications. The father of OBM, Dr. Aubrey Daniels will define and provide applicable key indicators to increase organizational profit margins while  increasing employee capacity with proper training, supervision, fee-for-service structure without engaging in unethical billing fraud and behaviors.

By providing the global community access to these three great minds in one place, in Special Learning’s Ethics of Organization (OBM): Best Practices in Performance Management LIVE event (https://store.special-learning.com/products/product-474), we are one step closer to attaining our mission: Helping 100 Million People with Autism in the World Reach their Independence.

Community-based program designed to support families on waitlist

Being an RBT for me was extremely fun because where were you going to find a place where you can be completely silly without having to worry what people thought about you? This was the only job that made me feel like I could make a dramatic difference while being myself.

I also liked to be surrounded by people that had the same goals of wanting to help kids and the teamwork made the job much easier and more enjoyable.

Change and progress was the ultimate goal for our kiddos. The early intervention program was seriously only a miracle because I saw changes in the kiddos that from day one, you wouldn’t even recognize who they were.

Changes from being able to utter 3-4 words where they can only make a syllable from when they started, the behavior decreases in which kiddo that used to engage in 30-40 0 self-harm to only half, learning how to wait during games, table work where they use to swipe and drop to the floor if they had to.

My favorite was when the parents would tell us what amazing progress they were making at home. I used to tear up and felt for these parents so much because it was already difficult for them and now, they can trust and rely on ABA and the therapists knowing their goal was ours.
