Special Learning, Inc. Launches Web-based Virtual Supervision Program for Those Seeking Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Related Credentials

The leading provider of educational resources for the treatment of autism has launched a virtual BCBA supervision program allowing individuals to work with highly qualified BCBAs using a best-of-breed program to obtain their supervision hours from anywhere in the world.

Special Learning, Inc., the leading global provider of mobile technology applications and educational resources for the autism community, today announced the launch of its “Virtual BCBA Supervision Program.” The program provides web-based, video monitored supervision of participants who seek to meet the requirements to sit for the Behavior Analyst Certification Board exam to become Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) or Board Certified Associate Behavior Analysts (BCaBAs).

Using a highly disciplined approach, Special Learning’s web-based program allows qualified individuals to access highly competent BCBA supervisors who apply best of breed supervision methodology to complete their required supervision hours regardless of their geographical location. Special Learning’s Virtual BCBA Supervision Program uses a highly customized approach by developing a curriculum designed to meet the needs of the individual supervisees. This curriculum is designed to allow supervisees to maintain existing skills and knowledge while acquiring those skills and knowledge necessary to master the Third Edition of the BCBA and BCaBA Task List.

Available by application only, the Virtual BCBA Supervision Program is part of the BCBA credentialing process in which students are required to complete up to 1,500 hours of supervised field work. In many cases, individuals seeking BCBA participation are unable to complete the field hours needed because they are not located within proximity of a qualified supervisor as is the case in areas of the U.S. and world where autism is not readily or commonly treated.

“Currently there are fewer than 6,500 certified BCBA and BCaBA-certified professionals in the world who are best qualified to treat and care for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities,” said Michele LaMarche, co-founder of Special Learning, Inc. “Because of this program, we’re able to create more opportunities for highly motivated individuals to become certified to train and more quickly join the fight against autism at a time when it is needed most.”

Supervisors who oversee Special Learning’s Virtual BCBA Supervision Program possess a minimum of master’s degrees in psychology, special education, applied behavior analysis or a related field approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. All supervising BCBAs are in good standing and possess deep clinical expertise in providing behavior analytic treatment services to individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities.

Community-based program designed to support families on waitlist

Being an RBT for me was extremely fun because where were you going to find a place where you can be completely silly without having to worry what people thought about you? This was the only job that made me feel like I could make a dramatic difference while being myself.

I also liked to be surrounded by people that had the same goals of wanting to help kids and the teamwork made the job much easier and more enjoyable.

Change and progress was the ultimate goal for our kiddos. The early intervention program was seriously only a miracle because I saw changes in the kiddos that from day one, you wouldn’t even recognize who they were.

Changes from being able to utter 3-4 words where they can only make a syllable from when they started, the behavior decreases in which kiddo that used to engage in 30-40 0 self-harm to only half, learning how to wait during games, table work where they use to swipe and drop to the floor if they had to.

My favorite was when the parents would tell us what amazing progress they were making at home. I used to tear up and felt for these parents so much because it was already difficult for them and now, they can trust and rely on ABA and the therapists knowing their goal was ours.
