Before you buy staff training: questions to answer

Use these questions with the people who set training, supervise staff and handle purchasing. Print this page or bring it to your next planning meeting. Do not put student names or personal records on it.

1. Clarify the district's obligation

  • What exact policy, order, plan or local goal are we responding to? Who can interpret it for our district?
  • Which staff roles need which training, by what date, and what evidence must we retain?
  • Which topics require a specific approved provider or hands-on assessment? What would foundational training add alongside those requirements?

2. Check fit and support

  • Does the course cover the actual staff roles and age groups we serve? What is outside its scope?
  • Who will guide staff in using their learning under existing student plans and professional supervision?
  • How will staff make time for training, discussion and questions? What accommodations or language supports are needed?

3. Ask the provider about delivery

  • How is each person enrolled? When does access begin and end? How do we get help if someone cannot sign in?
  • What completion evidence is available, who can see it, and how will the district store only what it needs?
  • Can a buyer review the material first, and what should we do if a staff member already has access?

4. Prepare the purchase

  • How many staff are included? Who can approve the cost, and is a purchase order, quote, invoice or vendor setup required?
  • What is included in the quoted price, when is payment due, and when does access open?
  • Who is the district contact for delivery issues, and when will the team review whether the training was useful?

Our course's limits: Level 1 is foundational training drawn largely from work with young children in classrooms and homes. We do not claim it meets a state requirement or a corrective action. Your district decides what satisfies its own obligations.

For a school group, Level 1 is $99 per person for 10 or more, paid once. Plan your team and request a written quote.
