Daniels began his career as a clinical psychologist, in honor of his groundbreaking work, he is referred to as “The Father of Performance Management.” It can be found that Aubrey was one of the first to make extensive use of the science of behavior analysis in business.
More than thirty years ago, Daniels began pursuing his mission: to help people and organizations apply the laws of human behavior to optimize performance. While Daniels began his career as a clinical psychologist, he quickly became convinced that the work of B. F. Skinner and other behavioral scientists best enabled his patients to change their own behaviors. It is then that he made the connection that the science could be successfully applied outside of a clinical setting. With this conviction, Daniels began to consider the impact of applying behavioral science to the workplace. Daniels’ impact in the workplace led him to coin the phrase Performance Management and he founded the consulting firm, Aubrey Daniels International (http://aubreydaniels.com).
Today, Aubrey is known as a thought leader and an internationally recognized expert on management, leadership, safety and workplace issues, and is considered an authority on human behavior in the workplace. Aubrey is also an author and speaker. He was the first editor of the Journal of Organizational Behavior Management (JOBM) in 1977. His best-known books are Bringing Out the Best in People (McGraw-Hill) and Performance Management: Changing Behavior That Drives Organizational Performance (1st & 2nd ed. 1982 with Theodore Rosen, 3rd ed. 1989, 4th and current edition 2004 with James E. Daniels) (Performance Management Publications) (http://aubreydaniels.com/pmezine).
Currently, Daniels serves as the Founder of Aubrey Daniels International and the President of the Aubrey Daniels Institute.
