IBT renewal checklist: annual CE and supervision

Review the IBAO’s continuing-education and supervision requirements after IBT certification.

Use this checklist to prepare questions and documents for your renewal. Your credentialing board decides eligibility; check your own record and the latest rules before applying.

Your checklist

  1. Check your current certification dates and renewal instructions in your IBAO account. The handbook sets out continuing education after certification.

  2. The IBT handbook lists 8 CEUs, 4 per year: 2 hours ethics (1 per year), 2 cultural diversity and awareness (1 per year), and 4 ABA topics (2 per year). Check your own cycle and record the year and category for each activity.

  3. The handbook asks for documentation showing the activity’s content and duration. Save each completion document and verify it matches the activity you completed.

  4. IBTs need a qualified supervisor registered in their IBAO dashboard. The handbook specifies at least one hour per month and a form for each meeting; appropriate supervision can be higher. Two months without a registered supervisor, or two continuous calendar months without supervision, can make the account dormant; a dormant IBT cannot renew or provide ABA services. Confirm your status and records with IBAO.

Your renewal planning notes

Use your board account and certificates to fill in what you know. These notes are not saved or submitted and may disappear if you leave or refresh. To keep a copy, print this page before leaving. They are not checked against board records. Do not enter client information.

Check the board’s current rules and your records before choosing your next session. Print this page if you want a paper copy of your notes and checklist.

Choose sessions that match your actual need

Before buying, check the credential, CE category and certificate conditions listed for the specific session. A course collection does not by itself establish your renewal eligibility or cover every required category.
