BACB Certification Requirements (All BCBAs in Maryland)

Starting July 1, 2026: BACB requires participation monitoring. The handbook’s example measure is a minimum of 3 knowledge questions per CEU, or another form of required active responding. This is not a video or format mandate: article-and-quiz, journal clubs, and podcasts remain BACB-eligible.
State Licensure: Maryland
State-specific requirements: Maryland licenses behavior analysts through the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists (Maryland Department of Health). The Board states the credential requires “a current certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BCBA or BCBA-D) or its successor organization; and a master’s degree or higher from a behavior analysis educational program that is accredited by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.” So your BACB certification has to stay current for your Maryland licence to stay valid. Continuing education for renewal is set by the Board under COMAR 10.58.16 and we have not yet confirmed the hour count at the Board’s own source, so we are not stating a number here.
