BACB Certification Requirements (All BCBAs in Oregon)

Starting July 1, 2026: BACB requires participation monitoring — a minimum of 3 knowledge questions per CEU. This is not a video or format mandate: article-and-quiz, journal clubs, and podcasts remain BACB-eligible.
State Licensure: Oregon
State-specific requirements: Licensed Behavior Analyst via the Behavior Analysis Regulatory Board (Oregon Health Authority, Health Licensing Office). Oregon is ANNUAL, not biennial: a behavior analyst must complete a minimum of 16 hours of continuing education every licensure year, and an assistant behavior analyst a minimum of 10 hours every licensure year, with at least one hour relating to ethics in applied behavior analysis (OAR 824-070-0005; ethics defined at ORS 676.802(1)). The licensure year begins on the day of the month you were originally licensed and runs the following 364 days — it is not a calendar year and it will not line up with your BACB cycle. Compliance is attested on the renewal application; keep documentation for two years after renewal. Your BACB certification renews on a separate 2-year cycle.
How your BACB CE interacts with Oregon: Oregon runs ANNUALLY while the BACB runs biennially — 16 hours every licensure year, at least one of them in ethics (OAR 824-070-0005). Planning your CE on a two-year rhythm because the BACB is biennial leaves you short in Oregon every off year. The licensure year begins on the day of the month you were originally licensed, so it will not line up with your BACB cycle either.
