BACB Certification Requirements (All BCBAs in Virginia)
Regardless of state, your BACB certification renews on a 2-year cycle.

Starting July 1, 2026: BACB requires participation monitoring — a minimum of 3 knowledge questions per CEU. This is not a video or format mandate: article-and-quiz, journal clubs, and podcasts remain BACB-eligible.
State Licensure: Virginia
State-specific requirements: Licensed Behavior Analyst via Board of Medicine. Requires up to 2 hours on a mandated topic; the first designated topic is human trafficking (SB 1147 / HB 1426, 2023; 18VAC85-150).
Important: CE earned for BACB renewal does not automatically satisfy Virginia LBA renewal unless the state board accepts those hours. Always verify with the Virginia licensing board before submitting CE for state renewal.
