The International Behavior Analysis Organization (IBAO) is a credentialing body with 4,677 certificants across 119 countries. Unlike the BACB, which is US-headquartered and withdrawing from some international markets, the IBAO was designed from the ground up for international professionals. IBAO offers multiple certification levels and is growing rapidly as an alternative to BACB in regions where BACB is withdrawing.
The most recognized behavior technician credential is the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) from the BACB, which requires a 40-hour training course and supervised fieldwork. QABA offers the Applied Behavior Analysis Technician (ABAT) credential as an alternative. Both require ongoing supervision by a certified behavior analyst.
To become a BCBA, you need: (1) a master's degree or higher in behavior analysis or a related field, (2) completion of a Verified Course Sequence (VCS) in behavior analysis, (3) supervised fieldwork experience (typically 1,500 to 2,000 hours), and (4) passing the BCBA certification exam. The entire process typically takes 2 to 4 years after completing a bachelor's degree.
Yes. Many credentialing bodies accept online CE from approved providers regardless of location.
