ASHA certification maintenance: PDHs, forms, audits and status
A guide for ASHA-certified SLPs to ASHA's PDH requirements, Compliance Form, audits and status, with a page on each topic that quotes ASHA and a free planner for your PDHs.
Terms. The CCC is ASHA's Certificate of Clinical Competence. A PDH is a professional development hour; ASHA says "One PDH is equal to 60 minutes spent completing a professional development activity as a learner and participant."
The requirements ASHA marks effective January 1, 2026
ASHA says certificate holders "are required to earn and report at least 30 PDHs during each 3-year certification maintenance interval." The activities "must include the following content areas": Content Area 1, "1 PDH in ethics", and Content Area 2, 2 PDHs. ASHA marks these requirements "Effective: January 1, 2026", and says: "If you are in the 2023–2025 interval and have not yet met the maintenance requirement, you may complete the PDHs under either the current standard or the new standard." ASHA says the Compliance Form "is due on or before December 31 of the year your interval is completed". Check ASHA's pages for your interval.
Plan your PDHs
Our free ASHA certification maintenance hours planner shows what is left of your 30 PDHs and the two content areas, how many hours a month will get you there, and what to read next. It has a printable PDH log. You can also save planner inputs and the activity log as separate files on your device, then restore them later. They are not saved automatically; keep the files private.
- Enter your interval end year and completed PDHs to see the remaining requirements.
- Add completed activities to the PDH log. Before saving, add or clear any unfinished activity. The saved log includes added activities and your name.
- Save the log and the planner inputs as separate files if you want to return to both; restore each file in its own control.

Hours you choose yourself
Special Learning is not an ASHA Approved CE Provider, and our courses are not ASHA CEUs. If you choose a recorded course, Compassionate Mandated Reporting Across Disciplines runs 110 minutes and costs $39, paid once; after you pass its quiz, its certificate shows Special Learning as the sponsoring organization, your name, the course title, the dates and the hours. You decide whether its content fits ASHA's Scope of Practice for you. We do not claim it meets Content Area 1 or Content Area 2.
